This is basically a listing of the themes or stories and their references. Some of these are highlighted as "classic" Bible stories.</p><p>At the end of each of the breakdowns, there is a list of most popular verses from this book of the Bible. I'm not really sure how this part (most popular) is determined, but it is there.</p><p>These Bible breakdowns are a great resource. I was thinking of different ways that they can be used--first of all, for my own personal Bible reading time--the corresponding Bible Breakdown is a nice thing to look over--historical context is always helpful! Another use is as a reference--you can scan through the sections and hopefully find what you are looking for. It would be a help to preparing Sunday School lessons--with the sections already segmented for you. It could be a help to a student studying the Old and New Testament. </p><p>Resources such as this may be used differently by different people! One thing to note is that these files are digital. There is also a statement in the front of them that, "You are able to print as many times as you would like for personal, family, or single church/school use." This is a really nice thing--you can use it with your whole class if so desired. These Bible Study Printables can be used by people of all ages (readers).</p><p>If you'd like to read the information and reviews by others, please click on the link below!</p><p><br /></p>

Now, just because they are Christian does not mean that this is religious news or focuses on Christianity--they just uphold standards of truth and appropriateness that may be appreciated by all.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFIVVwkShRO6csKwzJj-eNEl-bvffGQZrzQAnyyyijwyCm5b82MIPLrp0RywuxaCvx96aqeRcgkvG-MbDG9muCelj7vqG1scvHmum8my8TXuX69RIwaCsQ3O7JmzNfH8fGJ4jM_bwbnfs/s1704/1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="819" data-original-width="1704" height="154" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFIVVwkShRO6csKwzJj-eNEl-bvffGQZrzQAnyyyijwyCm5b82MIPLrp0RywuxaCvx96aqeRcgkvG-MbDG9muCelj7vqG1scvHmum8my8TXuX69RIwaCsQ3O7JmzNfH8fGJ4jM_bwbnfs/s320/1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit352iW2vke9bCNU-eflWqdAlE9IseC1cswzglYznBRWwX_ztHwtSawUt6whgDQSgryahlFn5R-HnDpwpQmdjVUjf34gKVZaxQ4DaAaR9yalD8z2GmfyQf_R9fZ_cAD7A7_sCcCoIrt7s/s1507/2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="892" data-original-width="1507" height="189" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit352iW2vke9bCNU-eflWqdAlE9IseC1cswzglYznBRWwX_ztHwtSawUt6whgDQSgryahlFn5R-HnDpwpQmdjVUjf34gKVZaxQ4DaAaR9yalD8z2GmfyQf_R9fZ_cAD7A7_sCcCoIrt7s/s320/2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6ugbvtZAuP7ZxkXX9Sq3QWaAooou2FP-m24cahDNhCUeqEW2m9msSSOmoZlhm7gaDdG9oMFvirAVGv31iwsAjkaa-IK7QrE5_RbH6IiDQEBjD3I_LBZ7QocZ3pZIY0zXHh8RZxDq2x4w/s1175/3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="808" data-original-width="1175" height="220" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6ugbvtZAuP7ZxkXX9Sq3QWaAooou2FP-m24cahDNhCUeqEW2m9msSSOmoZlhm7gaDdG9oMFvirAVGv31iwsAjkaa-IK7QrE5_RbH6IiDQEBjD3I_LBZ7QocZ3pZIY0zXHh8RZxDq2x4w/s320/3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">There is a new newscast every week day and if you happen to miss one, you can go back and watch it--they do not just "disappear." If so, you have probably entered the world of college admissions standardized tests--the ACT and the SAT (well, now there's the CLT also!). I'm not sure about you, but when I was in high school, we just took one or the other, whichever one our college required, and we took it once. Well, nowadays, it is much more common for students to take both and even to take the tests multiple times, seeking to reach their desired scores. </p><p>I know that my nieces and nephews who are in traditional schools have had classes in school to help with test prep--and there are many other classes that you can take, tutors and such, to help your child prepare for these tests. You might ask why would a student try to raise their score on the tests? Well, personally speaking, my two children who are now in college have taken the tests multiple times in attempts to raise their scores to qualify for certain scholarships. Not being in a traditional school, my two older students did not take any test preparation courses. Now it's my youngest daughter's turn to be looking at colleges, and she did get a score that she has used to be accepted into her choice college--but she, again, wants to raise her score to qualify for a certain scholarship. She and I were both thrilled to have the opportunity to use and review a product called <a href="http://actmom.org/" target="_blank">ACT Mom Online Class</a> by <a href="http://actmom.org/" target="_blank">ACT Mom</a>.</p><p><br /></p>

Yes, I suppose, but truthfully I don't think that is how it works nowadays. The ability to answer the test questions is what is being tested. This course is perfectly suited for that.<div><br /></div><div>Here's what my daughter had to say about the course (she just turned 17) <span style="background-color: #ead1dc;"><span face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" style="color: #222222; font-size: small;">I liked this course a lot! Taking the </span><span class="il" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" style="color: #222222; font-size: small;">ACT</span><span face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" style="color: #222222; font-size: small;"> can be really daunting, with different sections, weird questions, and the stress. This course breaks it down, shows you the patterns of the test, and what to look out for. She provides practice tests and a binder, marker, etc. She is a down to earth instructor, who knows the </span><span class="il" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" style="color: #222222; font-size: small;">ACT</span><span face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" style="color: #222222; font-size: small;"> is hard, but shows how we can succeed at it. I really like this course and will keep using it before I take the </span><span class="il" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" style="color: #222222; font-size: small;">ACT</span><span face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" style="color: #222222; font-size: small;"> again!</span></span></div><div><br /></div><div>I really love that this program is made by a mom, that she is totally professional (as is her site and products) and she is a real person--not a corporation--and not somebody that starts out by saying something like, "I'm so smart that I aced the ACT and I'll tell you how I did it." Instead, she shares that her own children took the test multiple times and she has developed this program to help teens to succeed. She does offer in-person sessions, but the online one is perfect for us as we are far away from where she is and my student can use it on her own timeline.</div><div><br /></div><div>It's a great product. I highly recommend this <a href="http://actmom.org/" target="_blank">ACT Mom Online Course</a> . It is non-intimidating, very matter of fact, and the explanations are so helpful. I especially liked her handling of graphs and interpreting of them (that can be tough if you're not used to reading graphs!)</div><div><br /></div><div>Please click on the link below to read about other families' thoughts about this

I am not really a Latin & Greek type homeschooler--I admire those folks who are, but it's just not us. So I thought...Greek...uhhhhhh...but when I found out what this course is about, I was so happy that we had the opportunity to use it! <a href="https://readytoteach.com/" target="_blank">It's NOT Greek to Me!</a> by Alene H. Harris and produced by <a href="https://readytoteach.com/" target="_blank">Ready To Teach</a> is not actually a Greek curriculum like you might use if you were interested in learning to translate the New Testament, but it is actually a course about using Greek morphemes to understand and use words better (morphemes are what I have usually called root words and prefixes/suffixes). More than a third of our words in English have Greek roots--and by learning these morphemes, one's understanding of the English language increases more and more! </p><p><br /></p><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://readytoteach.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="Ready to Teach" class="wp-image-802059" height="175" src="https://schoolhousereviewcrew.com/wp-content/uploads/Ready-to-Teach-words-and-logo.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p><br /></p><p>I will also remind you that a lot of scientific terminology is based in the Greek language as well, so learning the Greek morphemes helps with science learning as well! These lessons introduce students to the morphemes for each lesson and walk the student through different steps of learning them. One thing that I really thought was helpful is that the student is prompted to think of words that he/she already knows that include those morphemes. This can help them in understanding the meaning and in retaining the definitions of the word parts. I would also like to point out here that the powerpoints are not just static plain slides for the student to read, but they are crafted in such a way that as the student goes through them they almost feel as if they are viewing a video presentation. The slides have animations and build upon each other and definitely keep the students' interest! <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX89TxHGIiC45eZ9yCcIiYxIFEl6otRN99BWglkkjtQF6VEyztFw8uHR9AJnGHvDIFYOo5JNVbadQYWIaMcdgl_mF46Q9nMu0Mjgr7WNkjMtZ2YyZOxpRDq-ntmuuvNEKfeM-7WW_knK4/s1920/Screenshot+%2528290%2529.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1920" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX89TxHGIiC45eZ9yCcIiYxIFEl6otRN99BWglkkjtQF6VEyztFw8uHR9AJnGHvDIFYOo5JNVbadQYWIaMcdgl_mF46Q9nMu0Mjgr7WNkjMtZ2YyZOxpRDq-ntmuuvNEKfeM-7WW_knK4/s320/Screenshot+%2528290%2529.png" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Words are introduced to students and the parts are explained. As my students got older, I admit that I did freak out a little bit about things like transcripts and other requirements--there are so many things to be thinking about and so many variations on the topic! Even now, having graduated two homeschool kiddos (who are now in college), I still hear from people that they are so nervous about grades, records, and such. Lee Binz, of <a href="http://homehighschoolhelp.com/?utm_source=tosreviewcrew" target="_blank">The HomeScholar, LLC</a>, is ready and waiting to help homeschooling parents out with these questions and many more that you may not have even contemplated yet! </span></span></p><p><span style="color: #4d4d4d; font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd;">I was given the opportunity to review a product called <a href="https://www.homehighschoolhelp.com/homescholar-store/homeschool-records-solution?utm_source=tosreviewcrew" target="_blank">Comprehensive Record Solution</a> which contains the answers to many of these questions.</span></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.homehighschoolhelp.com/college-launch-solution?utm_source=tosreviewcrew" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="The HomeScholar" class="wp-image-802059" height="108" src="https://schoolhousereviewcrew.com/wp-content/uploads/logo-blue.png" width="400" /></a></div><p><span style="color: #4d4d4d; font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="color: #4d4d4d; font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd;">The author, Lee Binz, basically teaches classes to parents about how to successfully document your child's education and how to present that to the audience who needs it (college admissions offices, scholarship boards, etc.)</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #4d4d4d; font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd;">The courses contain video/audio lessons by Lee and accompanying worksheets/booklets that the parent may print and fill out or follow along with as they listen. </span></span></p><p><span face="Segoe UI, Helvetica Neue, Nimbus Sans L, Arial, Liberation Sans, sans-serif" style="color: #4d4d4d;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span face="Segoe UI, Helvetica Neue, Nimbus Sans L, Arial, Liberation Sans, sans-serif" style="color: #4d4d4d;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1RZLwbiNdHYTapA697dFoq6fhfXQuZOGZFmmoKYF3xuPx1ujfPRNyy2FKuNtguRCNzk-eXBdFoh4dZsJGZOO4SKTKkfN27z7bGHJJvUS_aB4nhDebodr9g6_BvkJBOB7ExANnwlr2ajI/s848/today.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="481" data-original-width="848" height="182" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1RZLwbiNdHYTapA697dFoq6fhfXQuZOGZFmmoKYF3xuPx1ujfPRNyy2FKuNtguRCNzk-eXBdFoh4dZsJGZOO4SKTKkfN27z7bGHJJvUS_aB4nhDebodr9g6_BvkJBOB7ExANnwlr2ajI/s320/today.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span face="Segoe UI, Helvetica Neue, Nimbus Sans L, Arial, Liberation Sans, sans-serif" style="color: #4d4d4d;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span face="Segoe UI, Helvetica Neue, Nimbus Sans L, Arial, Liberation Sans, sans-serif" style="color: #4d4d4d;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_X6Yv35DY7lXRvwPvQC-YwCdfPL-zHV_yO372J5KYwADftI7FPLXqm8XSJn3Tg0E9AH_LGTEVS5DAQq_2kc3QIKw69CnO3Ka6J_snrD2Rp9lPky6ibqYMSnLPCdt44260P9_rzOM93Ko/s626/tra.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="626" height="307" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_X6Yv35DY7lXRvwPvQC-YwCdfPL-zHV_yO372J5KYwADftI7FPLXqm8XSJn3Tg0E9AH_LGTEVS5DAQq_2kc3QIKw69CnO3Ka6J_snrD2Rp9lPky6ibqYMSnLPCdt44260P9_rzOM93Ko/s320/tra.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div><span face="Segoe UI, Helvetica Neue, Nimbus Sans L, Arial, Liberation Sans, sans-serif" style="color: #4d4d4d;"><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>There are lots of great talks and resources in the <a href="https://www.homehighschoolhelp.com/homescholar-store/homeschool-records-solution?utm_source=tosreviewcrew" target="_blank">Comprehensive Record Solution, </a> which cover so many of homeschooling parent's concerns and worries. Or maybe you're envisioning my son and I working for weeks on a list of all of the volunteer things that he had participated in over the past four years--and when exactly they were and how many hours per month they were! No one in my family has been diagnosed with dyslexia, but I was interested to see more about the product and what it contained, and what claims it makes for helping children with dyslexia.</p><p><br /></p><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://dyslexiagold.co.uk/shop/homeschoolers" target="_blank"><img alt="Dyslexia Gold" class="wp-image-802059" height="320" src="https://schoolhousereviewcrew.com/wp-content/uploads/DGLoo2.png" width="320" /></a></div><div>When you look at the website for the Dyslexia Gold product, before you even log in, there is a lot of information for those wishing to find out more about dyslexia. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS8_LlVYH3fGM7akzG5c5F2W2SNWveLVyPgMaUNWmY5ADAMTcrSfEjOQI5hdSYEn1A9MJNeDMvbZcE8u14BUElrzA94tmKjCauz_X3pWpszUCQ4VBE56t9wrB2oBCaSkM2OYc4WugrSdw/s1397/page.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="915" data-original-width="1397" height="263" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS8_LlVYH3fGM7akzG5c5F2W2SNWveLVyPgMaUNWmY5ADAMTcrSfEjOQI5hdSYEn1A9MJNeDMvbZcE8u14BUElrzA94tmKjCauz_X3pWpszUCQ4VBE56t9wrB2oBCaSkM2OYc4WugrSdw/w400-h263/page.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>Reading through this information, I was very interested to read some things about some of the issues associated with dyslexia. When my son was little, he had a tracking problem, which was attributed to low muscle tone in his eyes. Going along with that, the eye doctor could also not pull his vision in to 20/20 until he was about sixteen. I'll talk more about this below :) I was also interested to read about the issues with binocular vision. For ever, I have not really had binocular vision--one eye is crazy dominant and the other just kind of hangs behind :) This is not usually a problem to me, other than trying to look in a binocular microscope or shooting, or things that use both eyes at once. I guess until I was pretty old I never realized that not everyone sees like I do. I think because of this, I do not like going to 3D movies, because I still look mostly out of one eye and the 3D glasses are made for using both eyes. I'll also refer to this below! So--although we do not have dyslexia (I think!) -- and don't have many of the other issues associated with it, these few segments hit home.</div><div><br /></div><div>When the user logs in to the program, they can choose between four areas for their child to work in. There is a spelling program which claims to improve spelling greatly; there is a vision tracking program, full of fun games; there is a math (times tables) practice; and there is a fluency (reading) program. There are different activities in each section and they build upon each other as the student progresses and improves. The parent can view the student's progress and activity easily.</div><div><br /></div><div>There are particular things that you can select, on the parent side. This is a program from England (I think!) and you will notice an accent in the spoken words; the parent can select American, British, or Scottish for the accent of the words. I had American chosen, and will note that there is still a bit of an accent, but it is not really too much of a problem, though for some of the spelling words you might have to make sure your student understands them (see my picture of what afternoon sounded like to me--if I were trying to sound out the word, it was different)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSJueZ1DknQTAGnF6CKvtLmTZS02q_kD40XbqHcyLp27oUQW4lyDSIabjMJKLzVtXM_FQCQ7tPZfurGXi8flgYNsT4PDHPhH06N-WH26LsDHhqEaUENLFz_KdQ2KBU5OmP9k7BL2p0jdo/s843/accent.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="638" data-original-width="843" height="242" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSJueZ1DknQTAGnF6CKvtLmTZS02q_kD40XbqHcyLp27oUQW4lyDSIabjMJKLzVtXM_FQCQ7tPZfurGXi8flgYNsT4PDHPhH06N-WH26LsDHhqEaUENLFz_KdQ2KBU5OmP9k7BL2p0jdo/s320/accent.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Anyhow, my kids are older now, college and upper high school, so the spelling, times tables, and reading were not really applicable to them (and they did not want to try them). The Vision Training section, on the other hand, was pretty fun :) with games like whack-a-mole and target shooting using 3D glasses. It was very interesting to me to see my child without vision issues use the target shooting game versus me, who had a difficult time using it. I think I could probably benefit from using this part of the program myself!<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWZ7-FPFUUiyFR-dXIUNp78r3HKv-O7cbwUFOCfgO1AxCuZ9xzDA4Lrh_NU_3idawh-YfoTgDS7eCUyN6uT9DEWVLS1w16kUqAp-YQTT1zpz5YdYtaWUDR-3HzHyP418wBLXKtiKuQAtE/s1632/219702454_358692965955308_5501480124968648473_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1632" data-original-width="1224" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWZ7-FPFUUiyFR-dXIUNp78r3HKv-O7cbwUFOCfgO1AxCuZ9xzDA4Lrh_NU_3idawh-YfoTgDS7eCUyN6uT9DEWVLS1w16kUqAp-YQTT1zpz5YdYtaWUDR-3HzHyP418wBLXKtiKuQAtE/s320/219702454_358692965955308_5501480124968648473_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div><br /><div><br />When my son was 6 years old (he is now 19), he was found to have tracking problems, right around the same time that he got glasses. To accomodate this and to help him strengthen his eye muscles (which were viewed as the cause of his tracking issues), we had these little monster finger puppets and we did eye exercises with them for five minutes a day. This continued on for a year and his tracking seemed to have improved, thankfully. (Another exercise he did was word searches, that was viewed as a helpful exercise for him as well.) I can see how the games and activities in this program within <a href="https://dyslexiagold.co.uk/shop/homeschoolers" target="_blank">Dyslexia Gold </a>. serve those same purposes and can be done independently. Looking back, I'm not sure that I would have wanted a computer doing this, instead of the time we spent each day together doing the exercises, but I'm sure it would have been a good supplement. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSvyDi6ogrx7ickuD88IvpuSSrHC4Z5BABtV5LFRs0AGeqDPOEnIsGLBw_j8f0uu8FpQHwc0rLE945XnBULnnWcsuinXqpRm_Ablm-R2IacNsnzwsu4n3szP03InSjfbeQyezh6hhtHmI/s909/2.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="599" data-original-width="909" height="211" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSvyDi6ogrx7ickuD88IvpuSSrHC4Z5BABtV5LFRs0AGeqDPOEnIsGLBw_j8f0uu8FpQHwc0rLE945XnBULnnWcsuinXqpRm_Ablm-R2IacNsnzwsu4n3szP03InSjfbeQyezh6hhtHmI/s320/2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOPRIW_kkQ1J6LQz-4HNySb2uBJ2ArhnLW2KV48O8cqZbx5rxYdGNqvtkdHOgqhlQsDEmePymfCuWGQt_BglRn62G0hKp9oTkPPhMW66HEgysCWzNf6g7GR9MEc2y5Rpl9630qTcl2AAI/s1014/1.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="741" data-original-width="1014" height="234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOPRIW_kkQ1J6LQz-4HNySb2uBJ2ArhnLW2KV48O8cqZbx5rxYdGNqvtkdHOgqhlQsDEmePymfCuWGQt_BglRn62G0hKp9oTkPPhMW66HEgysCWzNf6g7GR9MEc2y5Rpl9630qTcl2AAI/s320/1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />So this review brought up some very interesting topics to our family :) And some reminiscences. Reading the Bible also is not only for adults. In the book <a href="https://bakerbookhouse.com/products/260779" target="_blank">Help Your Kids Learn & Love the Bible </a> by <a href="http://bethanyhouse.com/" target="_blank">Bethany House Publishers</a>, the author Danika Cooley speaks to parents to help them instill a love of the Bible and an understanding of the importance of Bible reading in the lives of their children. She offers encouragement and practical ideas on this topic.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOPhSeMNOwUCgc9HsSGeDjwzUaQxnWL43H1muh3Euz3KqaUks82HvUmgMTt7aMPI4UcwExe_38gr7ycRyN9DWDBTI2klGK_2RqsG6jDBxaofb9ZVsqoLoKeoi-fj3OnDqy335Kr7oBN_g/s600/204885670_199163168775550_5332409912436454421_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOPhSeMNOwUCgc9HsSGeDjwzUaQxnWL43H1muh3Euz3KqaUks82HvUmgMTt7aMPI4UcwExe_38gr7ycRyN9DWDBTI2klGK_2RqsG6jDBxaofb9ZVsqoLoKeoi-fj3OnDqy335Kr7oBN_g/s320/204885670_199163168775550_5332409912436454421_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>The author encourages readers to begin reading the Bible with their children at a young age, as well as allow them to sit quietly (but okay if they are fidgeting or playing out of sight on the floor) and listen to the preaching at church services. She points out some instances when her children have listened and learned when she did not realize that they were even engaged with listening. I guess that's not too surprising, really, as how many times do your kids come out with something totally unexpected that they saw or heard sometime when you were just doing errands or not actively observing with them? </p><p>One statement that she made which I really liked was near the beginning of the book (and I can't find it now that I want to share it with you!!) -- I'll paraphrase or give my recollection of it :) She said something like choose a Bible version to use, and don't worry if some people think it is not kid-friendly--your child will learn from that version and you will explain it and talk to them about what you read in the Bible (in that version) and they will learn to understand the Bible in that version. (Hope I didn't butcher that thought! That's what I got out of it!) I like that explanation--God's Words are powerful and a version cannot keep them from your child's spirit.</p><p>There are lots of great ideas for how to make time and keep time for Bible reading with your children--ideas for preschoolers, elementary schoolers, middle schoolers, and highschoolers. There are ideas for study and faithful Bible reading.</p><p>The author gives examples from her family's life to show how they incorporate Bible reading, study, and discussion into their family's days.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcGB-9-KTOca3C_zyVYppatnpsOJeuRuASo6PrRjnibj9P9XNBNrH0ujfaqKrjY6PcVojPb0CHugYqF5dALRrbQjz8UIH3fcPnzAfwvkTTNKn2OsvqS6vDMhR3vzUPEMpFY_DIOOlMix0/s600/217558784_211514064207127_4159778103311475426_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="338" data-original-width="600" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcGB-9-KTOca3C_zyVYppatnpsOJeuRuASo6PrRjnibj9P9XNBNrH0ujfaqKrjY6PcVojPb0CHugYqF5dALRrbQjz8UIH3fcPnzAfwvkTTNKn2OsvqS6vDMhR3vzUPEMpFY_DIOOlMix0/s320/217558784_211514064207127_4159778103311475426_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>The book is a softcover book, and it is written in a way that is very easy to read. The chapters are a nice length and the writing is really quite enjoyable and easy to read. You can read a bit and pick it up again later without wondering where you had left off. I know that some people don't relish reading non-fiction, but honestly, this is not written in a heavy way--it is written like someone is talking to you, sharing ideas. <br /><p></p><p>As I was reading this book, I kept thinking, oh, that's a great idea, I wish I had done that! You see, my children are upper high school and college aged, and it is a whole different ballgame, reading the Bible with them/encouraging them to read the Bible/etc. </p><p>This book is definitely meant to be read by parents with younger children--the younger the better. It is full of great ideas and I definitely recommend this book to parents of young children.</p><p>To read thoughts of others who got to review this book also, please click on the link below:</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>

It is basically just cabbage, carrots, onions, and a few jalapenos shredded/sliced very thinly. There is lime juice (I didn't have lime juice so I used lemon) as well as salt and fresh oregano (from my little herb garden, yay!) and I decided to add a little rosemary as well (since I brushed up against it in the garden and the smell was so enticing!).</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy4CmScat4_73HSLSTpfqI6pJHLobWJBO2mLP6BmKRTgoeQbON1GAD15rtpGTrH8AppCchmbKaJZ6oHKe9kFWtm9Y3itYcl3RukDNK8xjgyD65pFrujWb2v4KfPTDC7eSo9CnDH79vZWA/s1632/217496366_213967863961747_1613042119233678799_n.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1632" data-original-width="1224" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy4CmScat4_73HSLSTpfqI6pJHLobWJBO2mLP6BmKRTgoeQbON1GAD15rtpGTrH8AppCchmbKaJZ6oHKe9kFWtm9Y3itYcl3RukDNK8xjgyD65pFrujWb2v4KfPTDC7eSo9CnDH79vZWA/s320/217496366_213967863961747_1613042119233678799_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><p></p><p>Basically all I had to do was mix these ingredients up and press them into a 1/2 gallon mason jar--and let the salt do its thing--it made enough liquid within a few hours to almost cover the veggies so I made a little more brine and poured it in. The glass weight that comes with the <a href="https://fermentools.com/product/starter-kit/" target="_blank">Fermentools Starter Kit</a> fits right in there and holds all of the veggies under the brine. Sometimes people ask me about lab sciences and if we have the opportunities to do lab work. In our family, many of the "labs" in the book are just read through by my kids--some are performed, but with me (a science teacher-type!) as a parent, they have already done many of the activities prior to the course! (just for fun, you know!) :) Others are done in a home setting, many with regular household items, others with lab equipment that we have. The most recent review product we got to try out is <a href="https://www.collegeprepscience.com/" target="_blank">Greg Landry's Homeschool Science</a> and the particular segment of that which we received was the 12-month access to <a href="https://www.collegeprepscience.com/homeschool-virtual-science-labs" target="_blank">Virtual, interactive homeschool laboratory</a> for physics. I am definitely a fan of virtual labs for homeschooled students, as they can "experience" a laboratory setting (though nothing can fully replicate the actual experience!) I have previously written about a neat virtual lab that I found elsewhere. So I do like virtual labs. I do think that this program is a great addition to the homeschool science program, if you do not mind the cost. Our family would not purchase access to these labs because of the cost. The virtual environment that is presented is very professional and easy to use, very nicely done. Homeschool families have so many different ways of teaching math to their students! There are so many different curricula and so many different ways of teaching and learning. It can be overwhelming to try to figure out what works well for your student! Last year I was able to review a program called CTC math and this year I got to try it out again--checking out a different level of coursework. <a href="https://www.ctcmath.com/purchase/homeschool50?tr_id=TOSHREVIEW" target="_blank">CTC Math</a> is a 12-month subscription to a huge lot of math lessons for different ages of students. </p><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.ctcmath.com/purchase/homeschool50?tr_id=TOSHREVIEW" target="_blank"><img alt="CTCMath" height="250" src="https://schoolhousereviewcrew.com/wp-content/uploads/CTCMath-logo-02.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;">This math program is something that every member of the family can use, learning math topics from kindergarten up through calculus! The parent can set lessons for the student which need to be completed or the student can work straight through the course. The parent can view the student's progress very easily--and they can also view how much work their student has done...and when they did it. Actually, a progress report is emailed to the parent weekly! This most recent email I received about my own work on the course shows nothing...we were on vacation :) But it will give you an idea of how the email reports work:</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf1wn7f9sijdsjjagyVZdVqc2HxYmEsbV4uPdXIH2c_19QE2oEu2FMbS5xCtVhdkyC-QKTULU0gMCC3skRElJafIKsnsRlt0hr1PmLMUn1Pb9NW8GukuATonbEt19N7-QZPjqO3LGALnw/s880/Email.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="696" data-original-width="880" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf1wn7f9sijdsjjagyVZdVqc2HxYmEsbV4uPdXIH2c_19QE2oEu2FMbS5xCtVhdkyC-QKTULU0gMCC3skRElJafIKsnsRlt0hr1PmLMUn1Pb9NW8GukuATonbEt19N7-QZPjqO3LGALnw/s320/Email.JPG" width="320" /></a></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;">This is emailed weekly to the parent email.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFTJj09JnKpY8BduUZmXvxqdkv91MrfGgNSnSlp2t4XcxgHDGWIEvv7h51tvvnedJFZjTj377wNQ5V0fseOeSuNtTa_iBcdNp4GEOlY3S_3fh34rFXk0gnha7l_3IydRuTb6bw5GKdxr4/s1200/report.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="794" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFTJj09JnKpY8BduUZmXvxqdkv91MrfGgNSnSlp2t4XcxgHDGWIEvv7h51tvvnedJFZjTj377wNQ5V0fseOeSuNtTa_iBcdNp4GEOlY3S_3fh34rFXk0gnha7l_3IydRuTb6bw5GKdxr4/s320/report.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Parents can also easily access their student's reports from their parent dashboard.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I definitely like this <a href="https://www.ctcmath.com/purchase/homeschool50?tr_id=TOSHREVIEW" target="_blank">CTC Math</a> program--it is so versatile and can be used by students of every age. Some kids (and adults) get so involved in games that they happily run through review or learning activities without realizing how much learning or review they are doing. The game that I was able to review this past few weeks is called <a href="https://www.bagginthedragon.com/" target="_blank">Baggin' the Dragon Maths Online</a> and it is a math game produced by <a href="https://www.edalive.com/" target="_blank">EdAlive</a>.</p><p><br /></p>
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.edalive.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="EdAlive" class="wp-image-802059" height="122" src="https://schoolhousereviewcrew.com/wp-content/uploads/EdAlive-Logo.png" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Okay, first of all--let me address the terminology "maths." How have I made it this far in my life without realizing that people in the US call mathematics "math" and those elsewhere (England, Australia, etc) use the term "maths"! I guess it makes sense, as mathematics is a plural word...thus maths, I suppose! At any rate, that is just peripheral :) Read on to hear about this fun math/maths program!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGXN-tfmvYxIC0qEdRldieImnkHPJK_0aUq24p-GdaL9aM7l1HuWCJfmm4kL8LaG0wLnJWfPaSP5VBu_x6hUjSlLMlqb4lxyfnkTMMG2nbkA_faUBXS2fggOs0nNn9aHl4WJyfEihNDyA/s958/C2.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="454" data-original-width="958" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGXN-tfmvYxIC0qEdRldieImnkHPJK_0aUq24p-GdaL9aM7l1HuWCJfmm4kL8LaG0wLnJWfPaSP5VBu_x6hUjSlLMlqb4lxyfnkTMMG2nbkA_faUBXS2fggOs0nNn9aHl4WJyfEihNDyA/s320/C2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: left;">The age recommendations for math game are from ages 5-15+. The range of math topic is enormous, including topics such as numeration, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, chance, patterns and algebra, data, measurement, and space and geometry. I also noticed questions which I would classify as reasoning, logic, direction, and more. They are primarily word problems, which, frankly I think are fun (I'm weird that way) but I know that many students are afraid of that type of problem, or if not "afraid" maybe they are not as confident in them.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">The game itself is played like a roll-the-dice and move your marker, with the twist of not just moving directly around the game board but also aiming to capture swords, which are "courage"--as the entire premise of the game is to defeat the dragon (Baggin' the Dragon).</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN8pjLFhR02n7l88B_fDi-3nhtl2EpbzZgfdZD5dFR5zPYyWPH88X79mCrGM93FBdv6gRfyyGVxRpJaHfX6THmIU_89x4yDDx1GTU20e2y2EwMAY1NdsCcyMRtwSshwzoKkj6wyeUqLxM/s1920/Screenshot+%2528258%2529.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1920" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN8pjLFhR02n7l88B_fDi-3nhtl2EpbzZgfdZD5dFR5zPYyWPH88X79mCrGM93FBdv6gRfyyGVxRpJaHfX6THmIU_89x4yDDx1GTU20e2y2EwMAY1NdsCcyMRtwSshwzoKkj6wyeUqLxM/s320/Screenshot+%2528258%2529.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Other points are earned by answering math problems correctly, these are tabulated as "strength". At the end of the game (you can watch your progress as they tell you how many rounds are left) your courage and strength are added up and you will go fight the dragon.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQzu2J-_IMoAaaFRK4vL6IxQwaCHIhKfhWcy6vfACN3M00LEyl_q3TayG6rSLyOYYzNkg1z9dcOT2r4txd55N_yOeYJ8hbXVLRmRFmZoBG4fe3xc17FZx92Q5ZKnzUmrjuFGXYxqVGb8g/s1920/Screenshot+%2528260%2529.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1920" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQzu2J-_IMoAaaFRK4vL6IxQwaCHIhKfhWcy6vfACN3M00LEyl_q3TayG6rSLyOYYzNkg1z9dcOT2r4txd55N_yOeYJ8hbXVLRmRFmZoBG4fe3xc17FZx92Q5ZKnzUmrjuFGXYxqVGb8g/s320/Screenshot+%2528260%2529.png" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div>I went ahead and played an entire game through to the ending because if I had young kids I would probably be concerned about what they were to do to the dragon at the end of the game. As the board game portion ends, the scores are added up and the "fight" begins--it is just an animated movie type thing--with plenty of fireballs and fiery dragon breath until the soldier with the sword (presumably the player) throws a weapon with a spiky ball on two ends and a chain in the middle that wraps around the dragon's wings and it plummets to the ground, sinking head-first into a brick floor...the soldier puts leg irons on the dragon and in the ending scenes the soldier relaxes in a hammock, holding a piece of bread on the end of a sword while the dragon lays nearby, toasting the bread with its breath. ANYHOW--maybe that was long and unnecesary to some of you guys, but I would probably want to know that before I had my little child work through to the end :) <div><br /></div><div>There is also a non-game method to use it, where the student can just do the questions without working through the gameboard and waiting your turn. The questions are the same, you just run through them. </div><div><br />Questions are very engaging, each with an illustration and little story. The variety is incredible. The questions are chosen from a pool based upon your correct performance on other questions. This way someone in algebra 2 is not being quizzed on simple addition or subtraction. I don't know how they do it, but it is great! </div><div> </div><div>I'd like to show you a few shots of the questions so you can see what I mean. The author of this book is actually a lesson designer/creator of a course on <a href="http://SchoolhouseTeachers.com">SchoolhouseTeachers.com</a> that my daughter had taken and really enjoyed last year (Apologetics: Creation vs. Evolution). It has little line-drawings throughout which are nice little beginnings to each chapter.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Pursued to Eternity is several stories within a larger story--not the story of the author, but a fictional man and his brother. The man in the story, Connor, is a Bible-believing Christian and his brother (a phD geologist) named Alan, is an athiest for much of his life. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The stories within the story show how God orchestrated things and set things up centuries prior to Alan's life to convince him of the Truth of Scripture. Also spread throughout the book are conversations that Connor has with Alan, sharing the Gospel and Bible Truth with him. Connor includes Scripture, quotations from people in the past, and more in his discourses with Alan.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The stories-within-the-story are fictional historical happenings, with actual dates and historic references mixed in with the fictional stories. These fictional historical stories were written about someone living in different times of history.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">One story is about a group of men hunting and fighting a large creature and another one is about a family during the time of the Exodus from Egypt. Eventually the 21st geologist finds artifacts from stories at different points in history (that then mysteriously or mystifyingly disappear), but they somehow bring him more to a belief in the God that his brother follows.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Also interspersed in the book are some vignettes about the narrator, Connor, and how he lost his teaching job by encouraging his students to question the norm. There is also a lengthy list of 68 questions that the narrator's students came up with in their questioning of the teachings of evolution--this list includes things such as historical scientists and their beliefs, examples of things within nature that seem to go against traditional Darwinistic teachings, and other questions which can be raised when one looks critically at theories of evolution. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><span face="Segoe UI, Helvetica Neue, Nimbus Sans L, Arial, Liberation Sans, sans-serif" style="color: #4d4d4d;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRwTCRUTP53UVABsN0tgOhS8S96vMMwN2-VFMLFZBVsVNnTlQvAQByAVwDx_CiJHTDXCY4st9QWOOpor6oi-c70GPlZEUBwiEMkOt4Dkp8dBzLRPgKSYR50SJMYAbKeg5WUf_gOTqvfnU/s2048/20210526_222049.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRwTCRUTP53UVABsN0tgOhS8S96vMMwN2-VFMLFZBVsVNnTlQvAQByAVwDx_CiJHTDXCY4st9QWOOpor6oi-c70GPlZEUBwiEMkOt4Dkp8dBzLRPgKSYR50SJMYAbKeg5WUf_gOTqvfnU/s320/20210526_222049.jpg" /></a></div><br /><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd;">As the book proceeds, Connor's brother Alan makes some interesting geologic/ archaeologic discoveries. Connor has the opportunity to experience these with his brother. Connor does not give up on talking and writing to his brother about Scripture and God's presence throughout history and today as well. Connor and Alan have a very pleasant positive relationship throughout the story. <br /></span></span><div><br /></div><div><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size: 16px;">The stories, Biblical exposition, and questions about evolution-within-a-story were a bit disjointed for my liking and I did not care for it. This book is about Douglas MacArthur, who we usually already do note as a hero. Throughout the book the reader is brought to an understanding of MacArthur--a better understanding than just reading a paragraph or two in a history book. The reader finds out about MacArthur's life from childhood to adulthood (and to death); we learn that he was involved in a military for his entire life--from having a father in the military to going to military school to acceptance and attendance (and hazing!) at West Point and finally in the service of his country. We also learn that his mother was a helicopter parent! :) There are many details about his life--for instance, did you know that Douglas MacArthur was rejected twice, two years in a row, from West Point due to a medical issue (curvature of the spine) which he finally conquered, thanks to exercises and strengthening?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This book, as with the others in the series, is an easy read--and a great read-aloud! Although my kids are too old for read-alouds now (they do enjoy audiobooks, but not necessarily me reading them a book!) books in this series and others by the Benges have been enjoyed by our family for years.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMeKDy-RVEOBLOXilVJfZZoBTJolOk-kc9S7O0XKkRUCiKYbBKQWZWZ21o5ErvsRi5rUzTVnfVxPaky-NWgpWMvrJjV6qeJQHbmsG35-aKgJjdnVPYzaoA3c49BsXOlKj3DSAHw7Jg1sU/s1632/179933419_780648329556728_6908162839694420000_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1632" data-original-width="1224" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMeKDy-RVEOBLOXilVJfZZoBTJolOk-kc9S7O0XKkRUCiKYbBKQWZWZ21o5ErvsRi5rUzTVnfVxPaky-NWgpWMvrJjV6qeJQHbmsG35-aKgJjdnVPYzaoA3c49BsXOlKj3DSAHw7Jg1sU/s320/179933419_780648329556728_6908162839694420000_n.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">One of the things that the books in this series do is help the reader identify with the subject of the biography and see them as a real person. We all know that MacArthur was a brilliant military leader and tactical planner, but how many of us know about his background and how he grew into the man that he became? </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This book, alone as a book to read solo or aloud with a group or family, is an enjoyable learning experience. However, there is more to this book that may appeal to a homeschooling family!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Along with this book is a Unit Study prepared by YWAM Publishers which gives activities and exercises which expand this from just a book to read to an entire unit study which can last as long as you wish. My daughter (16) who also read this book noted that she was surprised that there was little mention of faith in the book--many of the other Heroes of History that she has read have featured the primary character's belief in God, but this one did not seem to; so that's something to note. The age level of it is 4th grade through adult. The book is nine units and each unit is made up of a video lesson (there are 2 DVDs to accompany the text) which the learner watches at the beginning of the unit. Within each unit is a creativity lesson which expands upon the topic, defining terms and explaining things such as line, form, depth, texture, and more. The learner is given an assignment or suggestion of a follow-up to this part of the unit, such as find an object in nature and think about how you might place the objects and then make an outline drawing using outside edges.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdKP1mvPPMr1rr0OSNEtnPnaxZF1Fw07XUdiJJtsSA-FGhmYIirpT-Juw8UcQTAsFLY8NcmE3EXvwoVPhWZxT7D50u8ePoSrnVu4M3m_xD0wr-SlBrdK70b-Ze1035JAyi_ePdyWr-P4U/s2048/20210410_155635.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdKP1mvPPMr1rr0OSNEtnPnaxZF1Fw07XUdiJJtsSA-FGhmYIirpT-Juw8UcQTAsFLY8NcmE3EXvwoVPhWZxT7D50u8ePoSrnVu4M3m_xD0wr-SlBrdK70b-Ze1035JAyi_ePdyWr-P4U/s320/20210410_155635.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Another element within each unit is a focus on American Art Appreciation and History. I think that this would be a great course to use on a weekly basis in your homeschool. The videos are very soothing to watch (!) -- my daughter and I both thought they had the feel of something that would be shown on PBS :) The historical section is a great way to incorporate learning about artists and their times (and you could definitely expand upon that as you wish!) The drawing instructions, though basic, do help you walk through steps of really seeing and observing so that you can draw a representation of what you are looking at. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">My daughter and I had a great time going through these lessons. I wish we had used this when all 3 of my kids were in school--they would have been ideal in the middle/junior high years! My 16-year old said this:<span style="background-color: #fce5cd;"> "<span face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" style="color: #222222; font-size: small;">I liked that the videos were short, and easy to understand. This leaves us with:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQM-xspc3S89hlzPZVxP4cmuhLE_-HPtIY67gTDuKBOcl35tFtPAB5nUHfKrIGkgWqjE-3v3f8Nx5ShGJS95WTVE4J72t5WgrigGipupe1-kKjnRNNf4-gZfdKPp0HW7ASqrL1qyr0Wnc/s2391/20210408_200604.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="748" data-original-width="2391" height="125" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQM-xspc3S89hlzPZVxP4cmuhLE_-HPtIY67gTDuKBOcl35tFtPAB5nUHfKrIGkgWqjE-3v3f8Nx5ShGJS95WTVE4J72t5WgrigGipupe1-kKjnRNNf4-gZfdKPp0HW7ASqrL1qyr0Wnc/w400-h125/20210408_200604.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now we have 2m times 1-2n in the numerator and 1-2n in the denominator.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We know that (1-2n)/(1-2n) is 1 (yay!!) so that leaves us with 2m times 1, which is just 2m.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Make sense? Hope so!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>
